Sony Pictures Network India (SPNI) announces the renewal of their exclusive broadcast and digital rights for the historic Durand Cup for the next three seasons till 2027. Organized by the Indian Army Eastern Command on behalf of the three services, the Durand Cup has been a cornerstone of Indian football since its inception in 1888, offering a platform for the country’s top clubs and emerging talent.
The tournament’s heritage and competitive spirit continue to make it a marquee event in the Indian football calendar. The upcoming editions of the Durand Cup promise thrilling matchups and high-octane football action, featuring top Indian clubs and rising stars.
Sony Pictures Network India has comprehensive access to one of India’s oldest and most prestigious football tournaments. The renewal grants exclusive television and digital rights to Sony Pictures Networks India and the tournament will be telecast live on Sony Sports Network channels and live streamed on Sony Liv in India and the sub-continent.
SPNI and Durand Cup have had a fruitful partnership, with multiple initiatives undertaken during the association. Last year, the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, unveiled the trophies and flagged off the Durand Cup trophy tour in its 133rd edition. As part of the long-standing association, SPNI collaborated with former Indian football team captain Sunil Chhetri, team owner-actor John Abraham and Bollywood Superstar Kartik Aaryan for specially curated campaigns. With SPNI being Durand Cup’s broadcast destination in the previous two seasons, the tournament has seen a growth in viewership. The prestigious tournament witnessed 100% growth in cumulative reach and a 27% jump in average impressions (compared to the 2023 season).
