India has been a witness to many stories about kings and queens and their relentless courage and victories have chronicled our history. One such prominent ruler has been Rudhrama Devi, the ruler of Kakatiya dynasty in the Deccan who is regarded as one of the most powerful queens in Indian history. Zee Cinema, the world’s biggest theatre for Hindi movies, exclusively brings to you the story of this warrior queen with the premiere of Telegu dubbed film ‘Rudhramadevi’ in Hindi on Sunday, 12th June at 9 PM.
Starring Anushka Shetty, Rana Daggubatti and Allu Arjun, ‘Rudhramadevi’ is a classic period film shot lavishly with a lot of grandeur, boasts of world class visual effects and high octane action sequences. What makes it a must watch is the re-union of Anushka and Rana Daggubati who were a part of Baahubali, the highest grossing film of 2015 and this time they will be romantically involved in the movie. Anushka Shetty as Rudhramadevi in a never seen before avatar is a treat to watch and will leave the audiences in awe of her. Along with this dynamic duo, the film also stars Telegu superstar Allu Arjun in an integral role. Veteran musician Illayaraja has rendered the music for the film and the maestro’s tunes gel perfectly with the narrative adding to the elegance of the movie.
The story unfolds as the ruler of Kakateya kingdom; Raja Ganpati Dev raises his only daughter as a prince to keep the enemies and detractors away from attacking the throne which has no successor. Eventual losses and invasions compel Rudhrama to take up the role of a fighter and save her dynasty from the shackles of defeat. How she defeats the enemies of the throne forms the rest of the story.
Southern film actress Anushka Shetty speaking about her role of warrior queen, Rudhramadevi said, “What really drew me to the project was the emotional turmoil Rudhramadevi went through as a woman. It was so intense. She still ruled with compassion, cared for her people and kingdom more than her own life. I had to learn sword fighting, horse riding and was also required to ride an elephant. We have a lot of scenes on an elephant in the film and through the course of the shoot; I developed a wonderful bond with an elephant called Lakshmi. It was so much fun shooting.”
