SAB’s much loved and watched show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah crosses the 2000 episodes benchmark.
The show is not only the longest running comedy show in the country but also the only one to complete the most number of episodes. Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah being the slot leader is one of the most popular television shows in the country today.
On the occasion of completing 2000 episodes, Senior EVP and business head, Anooj Kapoor said, “It is a feeling of pride for us to have one of the longest running comedy shows on our channel. The show recently secured a place in the Limca Book of records for the ‘Longest Running Comedy Show’. Produced by Neela Tele Films and created by Asit Kumar Modi (Managing Director) Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah is based on the column Duniya Ne Oondha Chashma written by journalist and columnist Taarak Mehta for a weekly Gujarati magazine Chitralekha. Every story on the show is intricately woven with some amount of social messaging and moral values too. The episodes take the viewers through the journey of the residents of Gokuldham Society which is based in suburban Mumbai. The story follows the life of Jethalal Gada who has a knack of always landing himself into trouble which leads to hilarious situations. The cast of the show was also nominated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to propagate and create awareness for his brainchild ‘Swach Bharat Abhiyan’.
