World News Day: Unite to champion facts, truth and journalism

With facts increasingly challenged by disinformation and artificial intelligence, World News Day on 28 September offers the global news media community an opportunity to demonstrate why trustworthy reporting is essential.

This is your invitation to join us now.

World News Day is a coordinated campaign that brings together newsrooms, news organisations and media support agencies across the world to highlight the value of journalism that informs, explains and holds power to account.

Led by the World Editors Forum of WAN-IFRA, the Canadian Journalism Foundation and Project Kontinuum, the annual campaign is a chance for editors and publishers to make a visible statement:

Journalism grounded in facts, clarity, and public service; has meaning and impact, and is essential.

This year, the campaign focuses on the need for information integrity in the face of disinformation and the rise of AI-generated content.

Both are changing how people see the world and how they decide what to trust.

World News Day offers a moment for newsrooms to demonstrate the care, rigour and responsibility behind their work.

Participation is free and straightforward. All materials are provided to help your newsroom take part across print, digital and social platforms. Better still, use your own creativity and channels to make the moment matter.
