Citi today announced the appointment of Dr Tooba Modassir as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) for India and the Indian Subcontinent, as well as the Banking HR Advisor (HRA) for the sub-cluster. In this role, Tooba will oversee the human resources strategy and operations for Citi across India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, a geography with more than 34,000 employees. She will continue to report to Arun Mirchandani, Asia South Cluster and Banking HR Head at Citi.
Tooba succeeds Aditya Mittal, who has retired from Citi after an illustrious career of over 30 years.

With a career spanning over 19 years, Tooba brings deep expertise in HR Advisory, Talent Engagement, Learning & Development, and Performance Management. Since joining Citi in 2008, she has held several key roles, including HR Business Partner for Retail and Institutional Banking in India, Head of Talent, Performance Management, Learning and DEI for the Bank and GCC, and most recently, CHRO and Banking HRA for Citi Malaysia. Under Tooba’s leadership, Citi Malaysia was recognized with multiple accolades, including HR awards from Euromoney and Finance Asia. She was also honored as one of the Most Influential HR Icons in Malaysia at the Economic Times HR World Conference in Kuala Lumpur.
Tooba holds a PhD in Talent Management and Diversity from Goa Business School and an MBA in Human Resources from Goa Institute of Management. She has also received a Strategic Human Resources Advisory certification from the School of Industrial and Labor Relations, Cornell University.
