If the words ‘Career Women’ and ‘Modern Women’, mean the same to you, think again. A career woman is just one type of a modern woman. You may be excluding two other categories of modern women. This calls for a clear understanding of what we define to be a modern woman. Women whose lives are exclusively based on informed choices are modern women and they can be of three types:
1) Career Women
2) Homemakers
3) A mix of the two
In our contemporary times, we have managed to break the patriarchal stereotype and liberate women only to entangle them in the career woman stereotype. So even a career woman is not a modern woman if she has not exercised the informed choice of being there. The pressure of conformity in our contemporary times to match the notion that a woman needs to have a career to define her identity and sense of worth, diminishes what a woman is really capable of and her opportunity to make informed choices.

However some smart women have had the chutzpah to rebel, think original and make the informed choice of being homemakers. They could well be the game changers to usher in the celebration of womanhood in its entirety which could do away with the much ado about career women. This foundation for this celebration stands on the concept that all women, whether they are career women, homemakers or women who are a mix of the two, are all equal. Career women are not more equal.
We talk of respect for women in our great nation but let that begin at home with the homemakers. That would spontaneously extend outwards into the working women. Way to go. Revere the homemakers and honor the money makers.
We have a modern civilization but not enough modern women.
