From Newsroom to Boardroom: Vijay Rawat Awarded 5% Equity in Katori Fresh for Strategic Leadership

In a significant recognition of leadership and impact, Vijay Rawat, Chief Operating Officer of Katori Food Beverages & Private Limited, has been awarded a 5% equity stake in the company. The move highlights the company’s deep appreciation for Rawat’s strategic contributions, as he helped steer the emerging FMCG brand Katori Fresh through a period of transformative growth.

Rawat, who made a bold transition from journalism to the corporate world, left a thriving media career two and a half years ago to join Katori Foods. In 2024, he was promoted to COO, a role in which he has led the company’s operations, branding, and strategic expansion across India.

Katori Fresh is a fast-growing FMCG brand that brings to market traditional Indian food products made by rural women entrepreneurs. By blending authenticity with modern retail strategies, the company is creating not just consumer value but also social impact. Katori’s products are available on major e-commerce platforms, its official website, and in Reliance Retail stores nationwide.

Speaking on the development, the company’s leadership stated: “Vijay’s leadership has been instrumental in shaping Katori’s identity as both a brand and a movement. His strategic thinking, deep understanding of communication, and executional excellence have helped us scale operations while staying true to our roots.”

In addition to his role at Katori, Vijay Rawat also serves as Head of Communication at the Manjari Foundation, where he crafts powerful narratives around rural development, women’s empowerment, and inclusive growth. His dual roles reflect a rare blend of corporate acumen and grassroots storytelling.

Prior to his corporate journey, Rawat held key editorial positions in India’s media ecosystem. He served as Multimedia Head at Zee News and was earlier Associate Editor at Bluekraft Digital Foundation, a policy communication think tank headed by Akhilesh Mishra. During his tenure, he worked on a range of high-impact content focused on governance, reform, and public engagement.

Vijay Rawat holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar College, University of Delhi, and a specialization in Broadcast Journalism from Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism (2000–01).

His journey from the newsroom to the boardroom stands as a compelling example of adaptive leadership in a rapidly changing India — where purpose, communication, and execution converge to create sustainable impact.
