Nilanjan Das Appointed Chief AI Officer (CAIO)

Nilanjan Das has been named the Chief AI Officer (CAIO) of the India Today Group, a role that underscores the organisation’s firm commitment to leveraging artificial intelligence across editorial, business, and content domains.

With deep-rooted experience in media and a proven record of pioneering AI-led innovation, Nilanjan has played a pivotal role in seamlessly integrating AI technologies into the Group’s content ecosystem. His work spans across AI news anchors, virtual pop stars, AI-generated television films, and even covers for the India Today magazine — making him an instrumental force in the Group’s transformation journey.

In his new capacity, Nilanjan will head the India Today AI Lab, driving the development of AI-first capabilities that redefine how content is created, distributed, and monetised. He will work closely with editorial, technology, and business teams while reporting directly to the top leadership.

Samkhya Edamaruku Elevated to Group Managing Editor – Production

The Group has also announced the elevation of Samkhya Edamaruku as the Group Managing Editor – Production. In this expanded role, Samkhya will take charge of developing and standardising style templates across all channels, ensuring consistency and excellence in visual storytelling.

Known for his calm, competent, and collaborative approach, Samkhya has been a driving force behind the Group’s innovation in content formats. His new mandate includes working closely with the AI Lab to craft cutting-edge AI showcases, further cementing the organisation’s leadership in next-generation broadcasting.
