1 Play Sports is delighted to partner with Hero Caribbean Premiere League (CPL) T20 to become the exclusive Southeast Asian broadcast partner for the returning T20 league.
Starting from 18th August 2020, the community sports broadcaster will live stream all 33 matches from the Caribbean on its social media platforms giving regional cricket fans a first opportunity to experience live free-to-air coverage from one of the world’s top T20 leagues. In addition to the live coverage, 1 Play Sports fans will be able to watch extended daily highlights programming with the best of the action throughout the tournament.
As it commences its 8th season, CPL will be the first mainstream T20 cricket league to return since the worldwide pandemic interrupted global sport. It’s a world-class event full of some of the biggest T20 cricket stars in the game, so the Southeast Asian community of cricket fans is sure to delight in the entertainment that’s on offer. 1 Play Sports fans will also have the chance to enjoy special cricket content, interactive engagement, and weekly contests throughout the near month-long carnival.
Mohit Lalvani, CEO 1 Play Sports sees the deal as a significant one for the young company.
“Strategically this is an important step for 1 Play Sports. Our philosophy is to ensure that communities, large and small, come together over sports at no cost to them. Cricket sits at the top of our acquisition and content strategy and I must thank the Hero CPL T20 management for their assistance. The teams put this deal in place in record time and though we are on the cusp of the start of the tournament, we encourage brands to also join us to fuel stronger communities through their involvement too.”
Peter Russell, COO of Hero CPL, said, “We are very pleased to partner with 1 Play Sports to bring the 2020 Hero CPL to cricket fans across Southeast Asia. The anticipation for the return of top-class T20 cricket is clear to see, and we are so pleased that Hero CPL is the first tournament back. It will be a different tournament this year, but it will be full of world-class cricket and excellent contests. We can’t wait to get started and we are sure our fans around the world will be watching in record numbers.”
