Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL), India’s leading television, media and entertainment conglomerate, will soon showcase one of its most awaited property –‘Zee Cine Awards 2016’.
This year, it gets bigger and better as it introduces the ‘Jury Awards’ and is India’s first ‘Integrated National Award’ for cinema.
‘Zee Cine Awards 2016’ will be telecast simultaneously on Zee Cinema, Zee Cinema HD, Zee Anmol and Zee Tamizh on 5th March. It will reach out to an expansive universe of ZEE’s channels that entertains over 959 million viewers across 169 countries. Present at the announcement in Mumbai were ZEEL MD & CEO, Mr. Punit Goenka, ZEEL Chief Business Officer, Sunil Buch, Anil Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, Kriti Sanon and Jury members Leena Yadav, Ravi K Chandran, Resul Pookutty and Shantanu Moitra.
With the ‘Jury Awards’ being instituted this year to ensure a high degree of fairness and transparency in the selection process, it is ZEE’s goal to ensure that the Awards competition is conducted in a fair and ethical manner. ‘Zee Cine Awards 2016’ is an honest attempt to recognize and reward deserving talent purely on their accomplishment in the year. ZEE takes pride in introducing a transparent judging process with senior and renowned dignitaries from the industry like Rakesh Roshan, Anurag Basu, Leena Yadav, Prasoon Joshi, Ravi K Chandran, Resul Pookutty and Shantanu Moitra on its panel.
The Jury has to select winners based solely on the artistic and technical merits of the eligible films and they will select the best in the field of acting, direction, music and cinematography. Zee Cine Awards 2016 will be India’s first ‘Integrated National Award’ as it truly embodies ZEE’s brand ethos of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam–The World Is My Family’. It goes one-step ahead by acknowledging and awarding some noteworthy performances across other regional languages including Marathi, Bengali and Telugu on a national platform. Zee Bangla, Zee Telugu and Zee Marathi will have regional anchors hosting segments of the Awards and there will also be a special performance that salutes exemplary talent in the regional industry. Many enthralling acts are being specially choreographed in these languages. For the first time, a special feed will air on these channels with exclusive content for that region that is different from that shown in the premiere telecast.

Along with the Jury, ‘Zee Cine Awards 2016’ will continue with its popular ‘Viewer’s Choice Awards’ in four prominent categories namely Best Film, Best Actor- Male and Female and Best Song of The Year. The final list of nominations will be made available on www.zeecineawards.com for viewers to select their winners. The winners will be revealed at the star-studded Awards ceremony and Shahid Kapoor and Karan Johar will be hosting the awards night.
‘Zee Cine Awards 2016’ will see a huge quotient of glitz, glamour and razzmatazz and will also subsequently be showcased on ten of ZEE’s channels including Zee TV, Zee TV HD, &TV, &TV HD, Zee Talkies, Zee Bangla, Zee Telugu, Zing, ETC and Zee Studio. It will have some high-voltage performances by Sonakshi Sinha, Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon amongst many others.
