Google India country manager Sanjay Gupta elevated as APAC president

Sanjay Gupta succeeds Scott Beaumont, the current president of Asia Pacific at Google, who will be retiring at the end of the year, after nearly 16 years with the company.

Gupta joined Google in 2020 as the country manager for the India market

Sanjay Gupta in his post on LinkedIn announcing the new role said, “APAC isn’t just any region; it’s the heart of global growth and innovation, home to half the world’s population and poised to lead the tech revolution”.

“Scott’s leadership and vision has already paved the way for Google’s investments in APAC. We grew our footprint around the region, invested in technical infrastructure, focused on skills development and partnered with the technical and scientific community in the region to support APAC’s prowess”, Gupta wrote.

“I am humbled and excited to build upon this incredible momentum. APAC has tech savvy users, skilled human capital, a thriving developer and start-up ecosystem, and governments that see AI as a path to economic growth. I look forward to working with our talented team across the region to harness AI’s transformative power for APAC”, he added.

In the interim, Roma Datta Chobey, who is currently serving as Google India’s managing director – Digital Native Industries, Media and Entertainment and government, will lead the company’s LCS (Large Customer Sales) unit, a team that sells ads to large businesses.

Sanjay Gupta will relocate to Singapore in the coming months and Google will start the process to hire a new India head shortly
