Former CNN International Bureau Chief, Vedika Sud Joins NDTV 24x7

In 2021, when the devastating COVID-19 Delta wave struck India, hospitals were overwhelmed, oxygen supplies ran out, and families across the country faced loss and uncertainty on an unprecedented scale. Vedika Sud was on the frontline – reporting from overcrowded wards, tracing the desperate search for lifesaving supplies, and telling the stories of those most affected. That work reflected the qualities that have defined her 19-year career: clarity, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to factual, uncompromising reporting.

Her appointment as Consulting Editor, NDTV 24×7, marks the addition of a seasoned newsroom voice whose career has been defined by chronicling South Asia’s turning points – from political transitions and humanitarian crises to environmental flashpoints and security dilemmas, with depth, context, and precision.

Most recently, as India Bureau Lead for CNN International, Vedika was the face of the channel across India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Bhutan — reporting on the ground, collaborating with CNN’s global desks on breaking news, and shaping South Asia’s big stories to resonate with a worldwide audience. She appeared on-air with anchors including Jake Tapper, Wolf Blitzer and Erin Burnett bringing South Asia’s complexities to a global audience. Her notable coverage includes the India–Pakistan conflict following the Kashmir terror attack, the G20 Summit 2023 climate and geopolitical negotiations, the India–Myanmar refugee crisis, the farmers’ protests, and the Delhi landfills investigation exposing environmental and public health risks.

Earlier, at the India Today Group, she anchored prime bulletins, supervised editorial teams, and led coverage of major national and international news events. At NewsX, she anchored key broadcasts, oversaw editorial planning for fast-paced news cycles, and mentored young journalists. At Times Now, she transitioned from the news desk to anchoring prime-time news, reporting on elections, terror attacks, and civic issues, and producing in-depth political and security segments.

An alumna of Sophia College, Mumbai, she holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Social Communications Media from Sophia Polytechnic and a Graduate Certificate in Public Policy from the Takshashila Institution.

Her work has earned her an Honourable Mention at the Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA) Awards 2024 for reporting on women’s issues and a finalist spot at the South Asian Journalists Association (SAJA) Awards 2021 in the Essay and Opinion category.

Rahul Kanwal, CEO and Editor-in-Chief, NDTV, said, “Vedika is not just a witness to events – she is an interpreter of their meaning. Her intelligence, field experience, and global perspective will strengthen NDTV’s mission to bring depth, accuracy, and insight to every story.”

Reflecting on her new role, Vedika Sud said, “The most powerful stories don’t simply tell you what happened – they help you understand why it matters and who it matters to. NDTV’s legacy has been built on that kind of storytelling, and I am honoured to be part of it. In an age of endless headlines, our responsibility is to cut through the noise, connect the dots, and offer clarity and context that truly inform the public.”

As Consulting Editor, NDTV 24×7, Vedika Sud joins a newsroom shaping the narrative of a changing India – committed to journalism that is rigorous in its pursuit of facts, rich in context, and deeply connected to the people it serves.
