W Hotels in Asia Pacific and Mixcloud, the world’s leading long-form music streaming platform, join forces to debut the disruptive music platform, FUTURE RISING in the Asia Pacific
Listen Up. W Hotels Worldwide, the luxe rebel of Marriott International, today announced the Asia Pacific debut of FUTURE RISING, a platform in partnership with Mixcloud that identifies, cultivates and celebrates emerging artists and creatives the world over. Aligned with the W brand’s mission of engaging new and next music talent across the globe – and bringing these exciting sounds to W guests – the Asia Pacific debut of FUTURE RISING is an extension of the brand’s ongoing partnership with Mixcloud, the online music-streaming platform that connects listeners to the world’s largest community of music curators. To kick things off, the two iconic brands will bring together a community of creative leaders for a series of events at four W hotels across Asia Pacific this May.

In 2016, W Hotels and Mixcloud came together to launch FUTURE RISING in Europe and the Middle East. Now, for a second act, FUTURE RISING is now coming to the Asia Pacific. Cen-tered around the new theme of “WONDERLAND”, the new FUTURE RISING series invites the most exciting names in music and culture across Asia to create events comprised of music, art and talks that explore the local creative scene and speak to the artists’ utopian vision of tomorrow… The calendar of events is designed to inspire the local creative communities with activations at W Goa, W Bangkok, W Hong Kong and W Shanghai – The Bund.
· W Goa – Saturday 5 May, 2018: Partnering with influential music publication and pro-moter Wild City, FUTURE RISING will welcome a bespoke installation by artist Subodh Kerkar, DJ sets from RHL, Tsunami Soup Collective (AGENT and Luna Toke) and Boxout Soundsystem (Boxout.fm). The event will also feature a panel discussion about the local Goan art scene with influential personalities in art, food and journalism.
· W Bangkok – Saturday 9 June, 2018: Culture collective and club promoter Blaq Lyte have curated a night of non-stop entertainment, that includes a hands-on beat making workshop with hip hop group The F.A.N, followed by the unveiling of a bespoke art exhibition cre-ated by sculptor Rook Floro. The evening will conclude with DJ sets from local DJs Eey and Dino Clapp.
· W Hong Kong – Saturday 21 July, 2018: Music tastemakers, party-throwers and record label founders Yeti Out, have planned a night of unforgettable locally-inspired sound that includes a production workshop with electronic producer Delf before an exclusive record label audio-visual showcase by Yeti Out’s label Silk Road Sounds. Local DJs Junkie T, Subcoat, S.U.S.B, Delf and MLCH will cap off the evening with an all-out set for guests to glam up and party down.
· W Shanghai – The Bund – Saturday 28 July, 2018: For the final FUTURE RISING e event, UK radio superstar, founder of the club night series ‘Deviation’ and producer Benji B will collaborate with Chinese MC Bohan Phoenix and local producer Lofimaker to create an exclusive two-track EP. To celebrate the final instalment of the series, the artists will discuss their collaboration and how the WONDERLAND theme inspired their work in a moderated Q&A hosted by Benji B and Bohan Pheonix. Following the suite session, the artists will showcase their new collaboration will premiere their newly created tracks for the first time, live, for this intimate audience only at W Shanghai.
The W Music Directors from each W hotel have carefully curated each event in partnership with Mixcloud’s in-house team of music experts. All performances and discussions will be recorded and exclusively available on the W Hotels Mixcloud Channel.
