Red FM, India’s leading FM radio network, in an effort to make Indian streets safer for women, takes its Mid-Night Masala show with RJ Heena to nine new cities (Lucknow, Kanpur, Allahabad, Nagpur, Indore, Bhopal, Varanasi, Jaipur, and Jabalpur).
The show launch aims at focusing on women safety at night with its Diwali campaign ‘Heena Karegi Sabki Lights On’.
The campaign and the show will stress the need to have proper and adequate street lighting to avoid cases of women molestation, teasing at odd hours, thereby making them feel safe in the city. With RJ Heena’s bold, naughty yet responsible personality, she urges listeners to identify the darkest streets in their cities for three days in a bid to draw the attention of the authorities towards the state of affairs in the city.
With their innate Bajate Raho attitude, Red FM and RJ Henna, aim to work with the appropriate authorities in order to address the women’s safety issue across cities. The show intends to push authorities to improve street lighting conditions in various cities to make them safer for women rather than just lighting diyas for Goddess Laxmi this Diwali. The campaign is a step towards safeguarding ‘City Ki Laxmi’ who feels insecure at night and chooses to stay back home.
Commenting on the launch of ‘Heena Karegi Sabki Lights On’ campaign, Nisha Narayanan, COO Red FM commented, “As Red FM is regarded as ‘Aaj ke zamaane ka’ radio station it’s our responsibility to ensure that the Aaj Ke Zamane ki woman feels safe in our country. With increasing incidents of eve-teasing, robbery, and molestation against women during the night, we want to highlight the need to have proper lighting on the streets and get authorities to improve the current situation. The campaign will run on-air and on social media platforms as well.”
Dedicated to ensuring safety for women, Red FM will ask listeners to keep the streets lit up with Baraati lights, mobile flashlights, torch lights by security guards or bike headlights by biking groups during these odd hours. So, listeners, this Diwali let’s just not light the city for a day rather pledge to ensure the safety of women all 365 days of the year.
