Optimising the Mobile User Experience

Outbrain Now Supports Google AMP

Outbrain, the world’s leading content discovery platform, today announced its collaboration with Google on the Open Source AMP (Accelerated MobilePages)
initiative. Google AMP aims at significantly accelerating the loading time of mobile pages, thus significantly improving user experience on the mobile web.Since October last year, the two companies have been working together to integrate the technology into the Outbrain recommendation widget.

With its focus on mobile user experience, the Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) improves the performance of web pages on mobile by speeding up loading times. By integrating the recommendation platform in the Google AMP technology, Outbrain enables its partners to better
monetise their Accelerated Mobile Pages. With the AMP project, Outbrain will offer even more benefits to its premium publisher network.

In addition to the personalised delivery of content on internal and external publisher sites, partners will now benefit from faster loading times for their pages on mobile, a much higher content consumption and a significantly reduced bounce rate. This translates into significant
savings in advertising revenue for publishers.

“Our mission is to delight users with interesting and relevant content. As such, we will continue to perfect the AMP technology with the support of Google,” says Sigrid Kirk, Head of Engage Product, APAC & EEMEA, at Outbrain. “This means we can now reach mobile users even faster with our content recommendations. It also means that we distribute more content in a shorter timeframe, therefore increasing consumption. And that in turn represents bigger monetisation opportunities for premium publishers in our network.”

More than 30 publishers globally are currently testing Outbrain AMP into their mobile sites to track performance and stability more clearly. Others have already completed the testing phase and have already gone live. These include Focus Online, RP Online and Netzwelt.de. In India, the company has already rolled out the product with India.com, Business Standard and IBNLive.com, with more publishers expected to come on board soon.
